Apa itu Frog VLE?

Frog VLE adalah satu projek Transformasi sistem pendidikan yang telah dilaksanakan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) di bawah Projek 1BestariNet mulai tahun 2011. Di dalam projek ini, sekolah- sekolah dilengkapi dengan penyelesaian bersepadu mengenai urusan pentadbiran sekolah, Kaedah maya pengajaran dan pembelajaran dan maklumat-maklumat terkini persekolahan murid-murid menerusi capaian Internet. Akan tetapi, bagi negeri Sarawak, projek ini hanya mulai aktif pada  tahun 2013.

VLE atau Virtual Learning Environment adalah satu kaedah penyelesaian bersepadu yang membolehkan pengajaran, pembelajaran, kolaborasi dan pengurusan pentadbiran yang boleh diakses di sekolah, atau di mana-mana sahaja melalui capaian Internet. Ia juga boleh dikatakan sebagai School Community Environment disebabkan ibu bapa boleh mengakses apa jua hal-hal berkaitan pendidikan di sekolah ini melalui laman web.

Dengan kata lain, bilik darjah online dan ruang sosial di sekolah, di bawah satu bumbung. Persekitaran Pembelajaran Virtual (VLE) adalah sistem pembelajaran berteras laman web yang menyerupai pendidikan dunia realiti dengan menyatukan konsep virtual dalam pendidikan konvensional. Konsep Frog VLE ini adalah sejajar dengan idea Dr Sugata Mitra, seorang professor dari Newcastle University yang memenangi hadiah TED 2013, Building a School in the Cloud.

Selain daripada itu, pelaksanaan Frog VLE ini juga merupakan satu projek yang menyokong salah satu anjakan utama dalam PPPM (2013-2025) yang hendak memanfaatkan ICT bagi meningkatkan kualiti pembelajaran di Malaysia. Maka dengan ini, diharapkan semua guru dan pelajar boleh menggunakan kemudahan Frog VLE ini untuk mengakses kepada pendidikan  yang bertaraf dunia yang boleh dicapai di dalam dan di luar sekolah bila-bila masa, di mana jua.
